About the School

Collinwood High School is a small, rural school situated in southern middle Tennessee in the city of Collinwood.  CHS and Collinwood are located in Wayne County, which is the second largest county by land area in Tennessee.  Collinwood is also the home for the Collinwood Trojans!

Mrs. Jennifer Vandiver is in her first year as the Principal after serving as Assistant Principal for four years at CHS. Mrs. Kala Abernathy is new as Assistant Principal this year, coming from Collinwood Middle School. CHS has one counselor, Mrs. Daphne Robertson. Also, last but not least, CHS has an excellent faculty!

This notice is to inform you that Collinwood High School was identified as a school for “Targeted Support and Improvement” due to insufficient growth in one of our subgroups.  In order to be identified as a TSI school, both of the following requirements must be met:

1. The school has one or more student subgroups whose overall accountability score includes data from all indicators listed below (More information on each of these indicators and the data used to define them can be found in the School Accountability User Guide.)

-Student achievement

-Student growth

-English learner proficiency exam (ELPA)

- Chronic absenteeism

-Ready graduate (high school only)

- Graduation rate (high school only)

2. The overall accountability scores for a given student group are not only in the bottom five percent for that student group across the state, but also the identified student group would, on its own, be identified as a Priority school, or the bottom five percent of schools statewide.

Our school is working hard with the district and the Tennessee Department of Education to increase student performance for all subgroups. We encourage you to help by participating in the development and implementation of our school improvement plan.

Sincerely,

 Jennifer Vandiver, Principal
